2 Methods To Create Slime With Shaving Cream & Laundry Detergent (Powder & Liquid)
Slime is fun for kids because it is enjoyable to squish and stretch and light as a cloud! You won’t believe how quickly it’s possible to make fluffy slime with shaving cream and laundry detergent. Even though you can buy some at the store, making your own is more fun.
Mud recipes require borax, but not everyone has access to it. In addition to using household products to make mud, there are numerous other ways you can do this.
You can use liquid glue and liquid laundry detergent to make slime. Make different types of putty if you like laundry detergent grime.

How to Make Slime With Shaving Cream and Laundry Detergent?
Many people have the question, can we make crud only with liquid laundry detergent? No, never, that is not the truth. You can also make the grime with powder laundry detergent, but the difference is that you need to do some extra work.
Here, I’ll explore how to make slime with both forms of laundry detergent (powder and liquid). Let’s have a look!
Method 1: With Liquid Laundry Detergent and Shaving Cream
Before discussing the steps to make the slime with powder laundry detergent, I’ll explore what we need to create crud.
Ingredients
To make this mud, all you need are three simple ingredients (that you probably already have at home). Also, if you like, you can add other colors (or mix them).
- Liquid Laundry Detergent
- Shaving Cream
- Glue
- Water
- Bowl
- Knife or fork
- Food Color (Optional)
Step 1
First, take a small bucket or bowl and glue to make fluffy slime. Make sure that you can only use liquid glue. If you want to use a glue stick, you need to do some extra work and steps.
- Take one glue stick and break it into small pieces.
- After breaking the whole glue stick, you need to add some water and mix it.
- I know you find it difficult to mix it, so you can also use a microwave and run for just 30 seconds.
- When you put the bucket in the microwave, you can see that the glue stick comes into a liquid form.
- Now, you can easily use it to make slime.
Step 2
After mixing the glue in the water, add a few drops of liquid laundry detergent. As much as you mix it, your grime will be more fluffy.
Step 3
You will notice that the glue starts to come out of the sides of the bowl as soon as you start stirring the mix. Adding another teaspoon of laundry detergent will make the slime more doughy.
Step 4
Mix shaving cream foam into the mixture. It will help to give the mud a fluffy texture by shaving the foam.
Step 5
You can also use some food color if you would like but make sure to pour the food color in just two drops. Always use food color in liquid form. But if your food color is in powder form, please convert it into liquid form and then proceed with it.
Step 6
To activate the ingredients, you must spread the slime out on a platform and knead it thoroughly with your hands and knuckles. You will have mud after a few minutes of kneading.
Method 2: With Powder Laundry Detergent and Shaving Cream
You need to do just three things to make slime with powder laundry detergent and shaving cream. Please take a look at the ingredients and appliance:
- Powder Laundry Detergent
- Shaving Cream
- Glue
- Water
- Food Color (optional)
- Small Bucket or Bowl
- Knife or Spoon
- Air-tight Box
Step 1
First, you need to convert your powder laundry detergent into a liquid form. Follow the specific steps:
- Take a half cup of water.
- Add two tablespoons of powder laundry detergent.
- Mix it well until the spots are completely dissolved.
- Now, you can use this solution in your slime recipe.
Step 2
Here you need more attention because you can’t use enough water when you make grime with powder laundry detergent. Take a bucket and glue, add glue and a few drops of normal water. Mix it well by using the knife.
Make sure that you can use both liquid and glue sticks, but I prefer to use liquid glue.
Step 3
Now, add laundry solution to the mixture. You see that the more you mix it, the fluffier.
Step 4
Add shaving cream if you want the mud to be fluffier, and you play well. Add food color or glitter if you like the slime colorful and shiny.
Step 5
After adding the shaving cream, let sit it for 15 minutes. Start kneading as soon as the crud forms. Keep mixing until all of the slimes have formed and are thoroughly mixed. This is the time you need to show your enough effort.
Step 6
Now your slime is ready; you can play it. But if you want to store it into the last playing, please use the air-tight box. Put in the air-tight container and place it in the cool place or refrigerator.
What to Do if Slime Dries Out?
If the mud begins to crack or dry out, a few add-ons can smooth it out. In case the mud persists, you can add these additional ingredients. A few minutes of vigorous kneading can often remove drying grime.
Shampoo
You can improve the slime’s texture by adding a few drops of shampoo, but make sure it is a moisturizing shampoo. Moisturizing shampoo gives the mud a fresher look. You must always knead the crud well after adding an ingredient to distribute evenly.
Lotion
Moreover, it can help soften the slime if it can moisturize your hands. If the mud has dried out, you can fix it by applying a moisturizing lotion and kneading it.
Water
It is sometimes possible to fix the mud by adding 2-3 drops. First, try kneading with only a couple of drops of water. You can also try other methods if it still feels dry, as excess water can make the grime runny.
Glue
It may be possible to fix the grime by adding more glue, but be careful not to use too much. Depending on the recipe you used, you may want to add a little activator if you feel the glue is too thick.
Is Fluffy Slime Borax Free?
As far as fluffy mud without borax is concerned, this recipe does not utilize borax powder, as is the case with the traditional borax silt recipe used in chemistry demonstrations.
This recipe will use a saline solution to make fluffy slime. It is necessary to use a saline solution containing sodium borate or boric acid. In the same way that borax powder is part of the boron family, these two ingredients are mud activators.
Slime activators such as sodium borate, borax powder, or boric acid contain borate ions, which mix with the PVA glue to create an extraordinary stretchy substance. Cross-linking is the process.
Polymers like glue are made from long, repeating molecules called strands. As the molecules pass one another, the bond will remain liquid.
It is made up of polymers. In the presence of borate ions, long strands start to connect. After they tangle and mix, the liquid becomes less like the liquid you started with and becomes thicker, rubbery like slime.
What Does Shaving Cream Do?
Would shaving cream help our fluffy slime? Can shaving cream be used for a jerk that is too thick? Air is injected into the liquid to create foam. Our shaving cream mud is fluffy due to the air in the foam.
If the foam eventually loses its air, what happens? Our mud leaves too. However, playing without the fluff is still a lot of fun. It’s like a cloud when the shaving cream volume creates a smooth texture in the fluffy grime. The scent is also not too bad.
Is the Slime Safe?
There is a reason for concern in using borax to make slime because of my personal negative experience with stinky borax crud and because borax can contaminate other organic materials.
Chemical cleaners such as borax can be harmful to your health when exposed to them repeatedly and unchecked. The following is taken from the label of a box of borax.
According to several news articles, borax in small doses is fine if all participants wear gloves and the borax is diluted. It’s better to take no chances; use this baking soda and saline solution instead. Additionally, it is easier to squeeze and make the grime more supple.
Tips for Slime Creation & Play
Here are some safety tips to make mud. Have a look!
- You should buy a travel-sized contact solution when you don’t have a contact lens wearer at home. Travel-sized bottles provide enough slime for one batch of grime and are less expensive than full-sized bottles.
- If you want to make mud at home at a reasonable price, you can buy glue, baking soda, glitter, tablecloth from a local store.
- Use an outdoor tablecloth or oilcloth to cover your table, which is easier to clean. In addition to plastic placemats and flexible cutting boards, however, flexible cutting boards are fantastic for protecting surfaces during slime play.
- Avoid touching your mouth while playing with slime, and wash your hands afterwards.
- Once the mud dries, it will become more difficult to remove, so if you want to keep your work area clean, scrub it with warm soapy water while working.
Ending Note: Shaving Cream & Laundry Detergent
Making slime with shaving cream and laundry detergent is too easy. You need to consider the above methods that I mentioned. Do not forget to add this mud recipe to your collection of grime recipes!
Furthermore, I recommend using liquid glue and liquid laundry detergent because this method is too easy.
