From Wealth Management to Wash & Fold
A Message from Anthony Perfetti, Owner of Long Island Laundry Company
When I started Long Island Laundry Company in 2005, I was a Vice President at JPMorgan Chase, working as a financial advisor in their personal financial services division. My life was defined by spreadsheets, market trends, and a suit and tie. But my wife and I always had an entrepreneurial spirit. We already managed local real estate we owned together, and we were looking for a way to build something of our own. When the opportunity came up to purchase the Glen Street Laundromat in Glen Cove, I saw more than just a business for sale. I saw a neighborhood business that needed a professional touch.

Built One Load at a Time, in Our Own Family SUV
The transition wasn’t easy. I’ll be honest: I jumped into the laundromat business without doing my full due diligence on the numbers, ironic given my financial background and the fact that I helped other people manage their money. Within months I realized the walk‑in, self‑serve side of the laundromat alone wouldn’t sustain the business.
So I pivoted. Long before laundry apps and pickup and delivery laundry services were common, I launched our own pickup and delivery operation that became Long Island Laundry Company. For years I ran the routes myself, loading laundry into my SUV before work, after work, and on weekends while still serving as a Vice President at the bank. There was no fleet of vans or high‑tech POS to schedule and track orders like we have today, just a one‑page website, my SUV, and customers who trusted me with their laundry.
I learned the business from the bottom up: I was the driver, loader, delivery person, and sometimes even the one washing and folding orders. Around 2010, after five years of running it as a side operation, I left JPMorgan to focus on Long Island Laundry Company full time.
During this time my wife and I were raising four kids while both working full time, so we knew what it felt like to lose weekdays after work to kids activities, weekends to kids sports or family events, and an ever‑growing hamper. I realized that if we showed up as a reliable laundry service and did the work right, we could give Long Island families their time back. That’s the business we built.
A Family Operation, Run by Family
Long Island Laundry Company has always been a family business. My wife, a full-time teacher, has been a wonderful supporter through every long night and every weekend of me working pickup and deliveries. She is the reason I had the support to take the leap when the time was right.
I eventually hired my mother, Marietta, to come work for me, and over the years she has helped me run the laundromat when I was out on the road handling the daily laundry routes. She processed laundry orders and helped build our wash, dry, and fold service. Customers love when she does their orders, always complimenting how perfectly she folds. And honestly, who doesn’t love having their mother do their laundry for them?
Marietta is now our Operations and Quality Control Manager, and she’s become an essential asset to our wash, dry, and fold operation. She is the reason our quality is consistent. She personally trains every new hire in the “Long Island Laundry Way.” She makes sure that no matter who handles your load, you get the same high standard of results every single time, folded consistently and treated with the same care. She oversees the processing floor and personally inspects orders before they go out for delivery. She also handles in-store customer service and over the phone, and many of our customers have spoken with her personally.
Meet the Long Island Laundry Team
We aren’t a tech company that hands your clothes off to gig workers. We are a family-run facility with a dedicated team of professionals who have been part of the business for years.
The real strength of our operation lies in our staff’s tenure. Several of our laundry specialists have been with us for over 10 years, a couple even for 20 years, and one dating back to the day we purchased the facility. When you trust us with your clothes, the same expert hands are handling them every week. That kind of consistency is impossible to fake, and it’s the reason our quality stays the same across thousands of orders.
Our delivery team consists of full-time, professional drivers, not independent contractors or gig drivers who work for DoorDash or Uber. These are the familiar faces you’ll see in your neighborhood every week, ensuring your laundry is delivered safely and on schedule. Customers tell us all the time how much they appreciate seeing the same driver at their door.
As for me, while I’m out of the SUV doing pickups and deliveries these days, you’ll still find me very active in the business because I’m obsessed with giving five-star service to every customer. I’m an owner-operator, not an absentee owner. You’ll still find me in the laundromat daily overseeing the day-to-day operations, and on occasion back on the road making pickups and deliveries helping out when needed. After 20 years and 150+ recurring weekly customers across 67 Long Island towns, plus the countless customers who just use us when they need a helping hand with the laundry, the standards that built this business are still the standards we run it by today.
Inside Our Glen Cove Facility
We process every order at our family-run facility at 61 Glen Street, Glen Cove, NY 11542. Over the years we’ve invested in a full suite of Huebsch high-capacity commercial washers and dryers. We chose Huebsch for their high G-Force water extraction speeds and fast cycle times. The extraction speed removes significantly more water during the spin cycle, which means less time in the dryer and less heat exposure for your fabrics. In addition to that the high cycle speeds allow us to process orders faster and also allows our self-service customers to complete their laundry much quicker than at laundromats with older machines.
Our facility features a customer-facing laundromat designed with a clean, freshly painted, inviting aesthetic. Behind the scenes, we have a dedicated processing back-room with folding tables, stain treatment stations hanging racks and bagging stations. This separation allows our team to focus entirely on your order without distractions, while keeping the public floor open and uncluttered for our self-serve laundromat customers.
Every night, our cleaning crew polishes every machine, scrubs every soap dispenser, and deep-cleans every folding table. This level of cleanliness is why we are a staple for families throughout Glen Cove and surrounding towns who use our machines, with some customers driving past their hometown laundromat just to come to us specifically because of how clean we keep the place.
Today our facility runs 20 commercial Huebsch washers in three sizes, 45-pound mediums, 55-pound large, and 65-pound XL and 20 commercial Huebsch dryers with operating Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 10:00pm and weekends from 6:00am to 10:00pm. The processing back room runs seven days a week with two team-structured shifts, and our delivery vans are out on the road from 8:30am to 6:30pm covering 67 service areas across Nassau County and Western Suffolk County.
How Your Laundry Moves Through Our Process
The reason our quality stays consistent across thousands of orders is that we follow the same documented process on every order. Our team works from a written standard operating procedure with checkpoints from the moment your bag arrives until the moment it leaves our facility. Nothing is left to memory.
It starts the moment your laundry arrives at our Glen Cove facility. Your order goes onto the shelf with a customer ticket attached, and our team works orders in the order of day and time needed. Before anything is loaded into a machine, we read every personal laundry preference note on the ticket. Every step of the process is logged in our point-of-sale system, which creates time stamps so we can trace any order from start to finish if a question ever comes up.
Sorting is where the work really starts. We separate everything into whites, lights, and darks. While we sort, our team is also checking clothing tags for delicates or dry-clean-only items, which we set aside and call you about before processing. We close zippers, button buttons, turn everything right-side out, and check every pocket for items left behind (pens, lipstick, chapstick, anything that could damage a load). Visible stains get pre-treated with Shout at our dedicated stain treatment table. If a stain doesn’t fully come out, we attach a Special Attention Stain Notice card to the item so you know exactly which piece we worked on and that we tried.
Before any laundry goes into a machine, our staff visually inspects the drum and physically spins it by hand to confirm nothing was left behind from a previous load. We use premium name-brand detergents (Tide, Downy, Bounce) as our standard, with All Free and Clear, Dreft, or Seventh Generation available for sensitive-skin and fragrance-free customers at no extra charge. Whites are washed hot with bleach as our standard but customers can request oxi-clean instead of bleach. Defaults are warm-water washes unless your preferences specify otherwise. After each cycle, we spin the drum again to confirm nothing was missed.
Drying follows the same discipline. We re-read your ticket for any hang-dry instructions, inspect the dryer drum before loading, and check every clothing care tag one more time as items go in. Anything marked delicate gets pulled out and either dried on the delicate cycle or hung to dry. We never dry items on high heat. High heat causes shrinkage, and the time we save isn’t worth the trade-off of possible shrinkage. Dryer sheets are matched to your fragrance preference. After drying, we double-check the drum to confirm nothing was left inside.
Then comes the part most laundry services just don’t do properly, the fold and the package. We don’t just fold and bag. We sort your clothes by family member into organized stacks ready to go from our bag straight to your drawer. Towels together, sheets paired into matching sets, men’s separated from women’s, kids’ separated where possible. Socks and underwear go into a smaller bag inside your main bag so its easier for you to put away. Bulky items like comforters, quilts, and pillows are packaged separately in a free reuseable zippered storage bag. We pack bags so they’re easy to lift to make handling and unloading effortless.
Before any order leaves our facility, we inspect it one final time to make sure everything was done correctly.
At every step, your laundry is processed in its own load and never mixed with another customer’s order. Not at intake, not in the wash, not in the dryer, not at the folding table.
Rooted in Glen Cove, Proud of Long Island
We don’t just work here, we live here. We are invested in the community that has supported us for two decades, and we try to give back where we can.
We’ve spent years cleaning mascot uniforms for local schools and sponsoring school events around Glen Cove. We have been proud sponsors of the Glen Cove Junior Soccer League, where we’ve supported team uniforms and helped keep youth soccer running in our hometown. We donate gift baskets and laundry service vouchers for school PTA events and fundraisers throughout the year. And we are honored to partner with My Big Sister’s Closet, a youth-led thrift store at our local high school that empowers young women in our community by giving them access to clean, high-quality clothing. We provide free professional laundering for the program, and to date we have donated over $3,000 in services to help support it.
We don’t list these things to look good on a website. We list them because Long Island Laundry Company is our family’s business, in our family’s hometown, and we believe small local businesses owe something back to the community that supports them.

EXCELLENT Based on 186 reviews Posted on Judi AshleyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This laundry service is the best that I have ever used. The staff follows every request I have about the ways my items are handled. Every item is returned beautifully folded or on a hanger, nothing is ever wrinkled or misshapen, and clothes and bedding look spotless and smell fresh, (but not overly perfumed.) Additionally, their prices are very reasonable and less than other laundry companies, and they will pick up and deliver any day you need them. Why Choose Us Over a National Laundry App?
Anybody can wash clothes. What makes us different is the personal touch we give and the fact that we follow any laundry preference a customer requests, even when it takes us longer to process and even when it doesn’t make us as much money on a given order. We follow the customer’s procedures exactly, every time, with no upcharge.
That’s the heart of it. Here’s what it looks like in practice:
We own the facility. Apps route your laundry to unknown providers. We process every order at our family-owned facility, the Glen Street Laundromat in Glen Cove, with the same team every time.
The same hands every week. You get the same long-tenured employees handling your laundry, week in and week out. National apps rotate gig drivers to pickup and deliver your laundry in their personal cars and subcontracted laundromats to process your laundry with no standard procedures in place. We do it all with our own full-time W-2 employees.
With us, when you have a question, you can call Anthony, the owner, directly on his cellphone at (516) 448-4503 or at our facilty (516) 674-4123. Not a help desk. Not an online chat. Not someone in another state.
If we make a mistake, we own it. We reprocess the entire order for free, no questions asked. That’s not a marketing claim. That’s our satisfaction guarantee policy to make it right.
After 20+ years, more than 180 five-star Google reviews, and 150+ recurring weekly customers across 67 Long Island towns, we’ve earned that trust the same way we plan to keep it, by showing up, doing the work right, and treating every order like it matters.
